Academic Writing

Debate

This course helps students develop logical thinking, critical thinking, analytical skills, and persuasive communication through structured debate training.<br><br>Using BP (British Parliamentary) and WSS (World School Style) formats, students learn how to organize clear and coherent arguments, research and structure information, analyze different viewpoints, and present ideas persuasively.<br><br>Through regular debate practice and teacher feedback, students strengthen their confidence, independent thinking, language organization, and persuasive speaking skills.<br><br>Levels: L1 & L3<br>Grades: G7–G12<br>Lessons: 12

Writing

The Writing course develops students’ ability to express ideas clearly, creatively, and effectively. Students also learn writing techniques including rhetorical devices, rhyme, metaphor, symbolism, and irony.<br><br>Through creative and long-form story writing, students apply these skills to produce work that is well-organized, logical, substantial, concise, accurate, vivid, and engaging. Mathematics Competition

AIME – American Invitational Mathematics Examination<br>The AIME is an advanced mathematics competition for approximately the top 5% of AMC 10/12 participants. It is held annually in March and consists of 15 challenging problems, with each answer being an integer from 0 to 999.<br><br>Each problem is worth 10 points, for a total score of 150. Mathematics Crash Contest

Lorvale’s Math Competition Program offers multiple levels for students from Grades 6–12, including preparation for AMC 8, AMC 10, AMC 12, Gauss, Cayley, and Fermat contests. Students complete a placement test before joining, and the instructor recommends the most suitable level.<br><br>Competition math is not simply advanced school math or repeated classroom practice.
